SHOTS BY JESSICA BRONZINI

The fleeting moment by the editorial staff of MAGAZZINO26.

We like to think we can find photographers “with a capital F” from the future (next one)…. those capable of enclosing in one click what the eye does not see, like the imperceptible, eg, and tell us about it, discover it, making us jump and excite. We will do this regularly because we care and we must do it well, looking for new talent is not a simple and obvious thing.

PROJECT:

The project stems from the curiosity of photographing the popular districts of Fener and Balat of old Istanbul. The visit requires careful and accurate planning, because places are not very crowded from a tourist point of view and leaving the traditional circuit can lead to a series of problems. The neighborhoods, protected by UNESCO, where once Muslim, Christians, Jews and Gypsies lived in close contact, have maintained a strong multiethnic imprint. Oggi, there is almost no trace of Christians and Jews and Muslims present, specie a Fener, they are known for rigid orthodoxy. The district has narrow, labyrinthine streets, with ups and downs, paved with cobblestones. Orientation here represents a real difficulty, but it is also nice to get lost in these mazes, between Ottoman houses with bizarre colors and shapes: I spent about two weeks there, wandering. The people around stare at you carefully and recognize you: to their looks you are a tourist, especially if you have a camera in your hand. The women all turn in niqāb, covering the whole body, face included, leaving only the eyes uncovered. When I met them, many covered their faces so as not to be photographed, others looked down. I gave the images a title, based on the subjects and each photo therefore has its own personality, some more outgoing, others more introverted, a bit eat me!

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

Born on 30 Settembre 1997 and Yes, Jessica Bronzini follows a training course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata, where he obtained his first level diploma in Photography with flying colors. Thanks to the Erasmus project he spends a period of study in Turkey, thus having the opportunity to make the report published here. Jessica has been a curious personality since childhood, eager to travel and discover the roads of the world: “The security of tranquility and the certainty of everyday life, oggi, they do not belong to my state of being, that overwhelmingly pushes me away, towards spaces new to me, where the mind, free from social and cultural constraints, sees and is impressed. In these places, reality opens up to me with all the strength and power of its narrative, original and naked ".
