PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT #1

TIPS FOR SHOPPING – Part 1 di 5 di Andrea Chemelli

Dear friends of MAGAZZINO26,

imagining that there are some photographers or aspirants among you, that sooner or later he may be interested in buying cameras, obiettivi, lights and various equipment, in the hope of doing something pleasant, I want to list a series of tips and share a series of information to start putting together, maybe one step at a time, good equipment, trying to optimize the quality / price ratio as much as possible.

Photography is a fascinating universe ... but expensive! For those without spending problems, everything is easier, but the optimization of an investment is always important. Inoltre, always remember that modest equipment (even a smartphone) in the hands of a good photographer produces excellent images, while a dream outfit in the hands of a donkey ...In any case, I invite you to call me or write me if you want more targeted and personalized advice on how to best invest the budget at your disposal.

WHICH BRAND TO CHOOSE?

How many times have I heard rivers of nonsense coming out of the mouth of some "techno-narcissist"! Nowadays all manufacturers offer very good articles, but my advice is to focus on Nikon or Canon (for photography, or currently on Sony for video).  These two brands have been on the market for over 50 anni, and they are widespread, therefore they are the ones that offer by far the greatest availability on the used market. As for quality, they are absolutely on the same level (even if a repair friend says Nikon is a little better), perhaps this or that goal has been a little better for one or the other producer, but the two systems are absolutely equal: so don't listen to those who say otherwise, they are just mental saws! Anyway, I use Nikon. Why buy them? To be sure of very valid products with an excellent quality / reliability / price ratio and a large market for the sale and purchase of used machinery.

A LEGEND

Is called Leica, born from the mind of the engineer Oskar Barnack che nel 1914 invents and creates the first "miniaturkamera", a truly pocket camera, robust and very reliable, able to capture and return high quality images thanks to the use of a "roll" of 35mm format film, born for cinema use. The camera, to which substantially no changes will be applied with respect to the initial project, immediately meets the needs of an emerging group of photographers, oriented towards a type of instant photography, taken on the street, seizing the decisive moment of each action. Some of them will found Magnum, which is still perhaps the most prestigious photographic agency in the world. The company still exists, and represents the quintessence of technology and obsessive care in the realization of every detail and design. Products, obviously very expensive, are intended for an adequate market segment, composed more than by professional photographers (which pragmatically tend to focus more on brands like Nikon and Canon), to high level photo amateurs, artists and "amateurs". The distribution is entrusted to selected stores as well as to a network of single-brand "Leica Stores". Why buy it? For the sake of owning an exclusive object and a legendary brand.

See you soon with another chapter of my "shopping tips" of this wonderful photographic universe!

Meanwhile, a hug and good photos to all!
