Rifletto spesso su un paradosso tutto italiano. Sto parlando dei centri storici.
I do not think exists in the world a nation where the historic centers have been preserved so intact, quasi come nella favola della Bella addormentata nel bosco. When asked why this happened, mi rispondo che i centri storici si sono conservati per ignavia. Sono convinto, also, that with the same sluggishness we are destroying them. All the historical centers of large cities are practically experienced by offices and catering establishments and similar. Not to mention the university towns where the entire housing stock of the historical center is rented to teachers and students away from home.
More than once it was said that the historic centers have become divertimentifici with all the social problems arising. Certainly the abolition of the tables for the stores has encouraged the development of local wild to drink and eat. Gli amministratori delle città pensano che il fiume di persone, in particolare giovani, che si riversano in centro porti vitalità e guadagno. Di certo tutti questi locali guadagnano non poco ma il danno sociale, anche in termini di ordine pubblico, sono decisamente maggiori.
Basti vedere alla mattina la quantità di rifiuti e depositi, in senso figurato, che deturpano le strade. Sarebbe ora di far tornare ai centri storici abitanti stabili e anche tutte le attività artigianali che sono state a suo tempo deportate fuori della cinta urbana.
